Remembering the brutal terrorism of Srilankan state armed forces

2 ஜனவரி 2016 04:55 PM

Srilankan Armed forces killed 5 innocent students of our school in 2006.

//On the 2 January 2006, five students were spending the evening at the beach in Trincomalee. At around 7:30pm, a grenade was thrown from a green three-wheeler towards the students, which according to reports then proceeded into Fort Frederick, the army headquarters. Three of the students were injured from the explosion.

Jeeps from the Sri Lankan police's Special Task Force (STF) arrived soon after, accompanied by the Superintendent of Police Kapila Jayasekara. Members of the STF, wearing full face masks, put the youths into their jeeps and beat them with their rifle butts.

The students were then pushed onto the road and shot on the seafront, by the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

Remembering my brother Manoharan Ragihar who was one of those 5 students. RIP. - Jerad Evan //

* University of Moratuwa refused to acknowledge it's students who got killed in this attack. Tamil students' union of Moratuwa fought hard but they were threatened by the University administration.

* Government was repeating it's same old "LTTE carders" song.

* Tricomalee knows those students have no any connections with LTTE.

I'm really sad to see most of my Sinhalese friends are brain washed by the racist media and still believing and arguing that those students were not killed by government forces.

This is just a small example of injustices which are the root cause of LTTE.

Just preaching the peace and unity is not going to defeat racism. Accepting the reality and accepting the injustice we did to other communities is the important part of real harmony.
